Organisms at the bottom, largest level have the most energy. As organisms consume other organisms, 90% of energy gets lost as heat. Primary consumers only get 10% of producer's energy, and so forth. As a result, quaternary consumers like hawks get 0.01% of the energy from the bottom level. |
